February, 2017: The Slipper Club Gala

Delivery Limited loved being the exclusive storage and delivery company that partnered with the Slipper Club for their Slipper Club Gala!

This year, the Slipper Club of Dallas presented its Annual Gala & Silent Auction, Beyond the Mask.

The black tie gala with a masquerade theme included a silent auction with over one hundred items ranging from local restaurant and entertainment experiences to vacation packages to sports memorabilia to beauty, fitness, health, jewelry, art and fashion items. Additionally, there was dancing with live entertainment and a casino with the opportunity to win raffle items.

This year, donations and proceeds from the silent auction, and all fundraising efforts from the year, supported Rays of Light as the Slipper Club’s 2016-17 beneficiary.

Rays of Light Dallas is dedicated to providing free, quality care to families with children with special need. All the monies raised will go directly to fund the expansion to a third Night Lights program facility. This will provide 150 additional special needs children and their siblings a safe environment to shine and develop with the required staff, security, and medical support team each month.

On February 17th, the ladies of the Slipper Club Board were pleased to present our 2016 – 2017 beneficiary, Rays of Light (ROL), with a check for $116,621!!

This local foundation is dedicated to being the light at the end of the tunnel for both children with special need and their families in the Dallas metropolitan area.

About the Slipper Club

The Slipper Club’s 2017-2018 beneficiary, Camp Sweeney, provides children with type 1 diabetes a place where every camper can show what makes them special, not what makes them different.

According to the Slipper Club:

“When a child is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, their life is forever changed. Days filled with school, sports, and activities are quickly replaced by blood tests, insulin injections, and carbohydrate calculations. Every step required to manage their diabetes is a step away from what children see as “normal”.

Camp Sweeney serves over 1,000 children every summer, and is the largest three week residential camp in the world for children with type 1 diabetes. For some campers in the Texas Foster Care System, attending Camp Sweeney each summer is often their only consistent family.

Although Camp Sweeney is only in session during the summer, diabetes doesn’t stop when the school year begins, and neither do they. Camp Sweeney hosts an outreach program, PFC Life, in communities across Texas, where campers gather weekly.

Funds raised for Camp Sweeney will be used for a special scholarship fund to support campers in financial duress. Camp Sweeney currently provides financial aid to over 86% of campers, and no camper has ever been turned away due to inability to pay.
